This articles explains the steps required to setup a gateway in MDaemon for RelayFax.


Setting up a Gateway to be used with MDaemon is the easiest solution for emailing a fax from the LOCAL NETWORK. From the MDaemon menu bar:


  1. Select on Gateways.
  2. Select on New Gateway.
  3. In the Domain Name field, type a domain name Example: fax.mail.
  4. In the Place Message files For All Users of This Domain Here field, enter the directory where you wish to store incoming mail, which arrives for that domain.
  5. Click the Apply button.
  6. Select the POP/IMAP tab.
  7. In the Mailbox name (logon) field, type the name of the new account you are creating Example: 'Fax'.
  8. In the Password or shared secret field, type the password for that account Example: 'password'.
  9. Click the Create/Update Account button.
  10. Click the OK button.
  11. Click the Apply button.
  12. Click the OK button.


When addressing mail for faxing use the faxnumber@fax.mail address Example: 555-1212@fax.mail.

From the RelayFax menu bar:


  1. Select Tools.
  2. Select Mail Sources.
  3. In the Server field, type the IP address of your MDaemon machine.
  4. In the Logon field, type fax.
  5. In the Password field, type the password for that account.
  6. Make sure that the box for Enable This Entry is checked.
  7. Click the Add button.
  8. Click the Apply button.
  9. Click the OK button.
