How to configure RelayFax to automatically add a "1" before dialing long distance numbers in RelayFa (62) Print

This articles explains different configurations that can be used to have RelayFax dial a 1 before a long distance number.


Option 1 

Set up an outbound rule for the area code to dial a 1 

To set up the rule follow these steps. 


  1. Click Rules.
  2. Click Outbound fax rules
  3. Select the option If the receiving fax number


  1. In the box below select Starts with from the drop down box. 
  2. In the this text field type in the area code that needs a 1 in front of it to dial. 
  3. In the area near the bottom labeled Then do this with the message select Add text to start of fax number from the list. 
  4. Click the Add rule button. 
  5. In the window that pops up (Text to insert into fax number) type 1
  6. Click OK
  7. If more than one area code needs this option repeat steps 1-9.
  8. Click Apply
  9. Click OK.



Option 2 

Create a contact in your fax contacts list for the company and include the proper number that needs to be dialed. 

To set up a contact follow these steps: 


  1. Click Tools.
  2. Click Fax Contacts.
  3. Right click on the address book you want the contact to be placed in (Associates, Companies, or Friends).
  4. Click Add New Contact.
  5. Fill out the proper fields with the correct information.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Click File.
  8. Select Save and Close.
  9. Minimize RelayFax.


Additional Comments


In order to send a fax using RelayFax’s contacts, you need to use the RelayFax Client.
