  • 0

RelayFax is not processing some emails and is giving the 'Duplicate Message-ID Detected' error message.

This is most commonly caused because the email does not have a message-id header field in it.

A. Put a message-id header into the message before RelayFax downloads it.

From the MDaemon menu:

  1. Click Setup.
  2. Click Miscellaneous Options.
  3. Click the Headers tab.
  4. Place a check in the box for Force “Message-ID:” header in all messages.
  5. Click Apply.
  6. Click OK.

OR

B. Eliminate the use of the msgid.dat file.

  1. Right click on Start and chose Explore.
  2. Expand (single click the + to the right of the icon)C: drive.
  3. Expand the RelayFax folder.
  4. Single click the folder called App.
  5. In the right hand pane of the Explorer Dialog box, open the msgid.dat file (by double clicking) into a text editor.
  6. Delete all the message-id's from there.
  7. Save this file.
  8. Close the text editor.
  9. Right click the msgid.dat file to open a pop up menu.
  10. Select properties to open a dialog box.
  11. Find the Attributes section at the bottom of the General tab, and click the box next to Read only.
  12. Click Apply.
  13. Click OK.
  14. Restart RelayFax.

This last solution effectively eliminates use of the msgid.dat file as a safety measure.
