This article explains how to resolve Attachment Service Not Found error on BES enabled smartphones after a machine name change
- Download and install Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express:
- Download the appropriate (standard or x64) version from the Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express website.
- Double click the downloaded SQLServer2005_SSMSEE.msi installer
- Click Next
- Enable I Accept the terms in the license agreement
- Click Next
- Type your Name: and Company: in the corresponding fields
- Click Next
- Click Next
- Click Install
- Click Finish
- Launch Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express and copy the incorrect machine name values:
- Click the Windows Start button
- Click Programs
- Click Microsoft SQL Server 2005
- Click SQL Server Management Studio Express
- Click Connect on the Connect to Server dialog (The defaults will allow you to connect to the database automatically)
- Within the Object Explorer, Expand Databases
- Expand BESMgmt
- Expand Tables
- Right Click dbo.BASServiceInstanceData
- Click Open Table
- Click within the Data field on ServiceInstanceID 13
- Click the Edit menu
- Click Select All
- Click the Edit menu
- Click Copy
- Minimize the Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express application
- Find and Replace the old machine name with the new machine name:
- Click the Windows Start button
- Click Programs
- Click Accessories
- Click Windows Notepad
- Click the Edit menu
- Click Paste
- Click the Edit menu
- Click Replace…
- Within the Find what: field, type the old machine name
- Within the Replace with: field, type the new machine name
- Click Replace All
- Click the Edit menu
- Click Select All
- Click the Edit menu
- Click Copy
- Exit the Windows Notepad
- Paste the correct contents within the Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express application:
- Maximize the Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express application
- Click within the Data field on ServiceInstanceID 13
- Click the Edit menu
- Click Select All
- Click the Edit menu
- Click Paste
- Click the File menu
- Click Save All
- Click the File menu
- Click Exit
- In order for the changes to take effect, you will need to restart BlackBerry services:
- Click the Windows Start button
- Click Run…
- Type ‘services.msc’
- Right Click BlackBerry Attachment Service
- Click Restart
- Right Click BlackBerry Controller
- Click Restart
