How do I start and stop SecurityGateway?

There are three methods to shut down, or start up, SecurityGateway.

  1. Go through the SecurityGateway program-group. To do so:
    1. Click on the Start button on the taskbar.
    2. Select Programs, or All Programs.
    3. Select the SecurityGateway group.
    4. Choose 'Start SecurityGateway' or 'Stop SecurityGateway'.
  2. Go through the Services control-panel. To do so:
    1. Click on the Start button on the taskbar.
    2. Select Programs (or All Programs), and then Administrative Tools. You may also select Settings, then Control Panel, then Administrative Tools as well.
    3. This will open up the Services control-panel. Scroll through it to find SecurityGateway.
    4. Right-click on the SecurityGateway process and choose Stop or Start from the pop-up menu.
  3. Go through the Windows command-prompt. To do so:
    1. Click on the Start button on the taskbar.
    2. Click on Run... to bring up a prompt window.
    3. Type in the word 'cmd', then click on OK, or hit the Enter button.
    4. In the text box that appears, type at the prompt 'net start securitygateway' or 'net stop securitygateway'.

Additional Comments

Note that shutting down SecurityGateway improperly, such as ending the SecurityGateway process in Windows' Task Manager, is not recommended unless the service is not responding to the above commands.
