Configuring virus-definition updates options in SecurityGateway Print

  • 0

This article explains how to configure SecurityGateway to check for new virus-definition updates periodically, so the definition database is up-to-date with information regarding the latest viruses.

From the Dashboard, after logging in:

  1. Click on Security, in the lower-left corner
  2. Locate the Anti-Virus section
  3. Click on Configure Updates

You may then configure the frequency of automatic update checks. You may choose to check a certain number of minutes after each hour, or at a specific time each day. By default, SecurityGateway will check for new definitions every hour, on the hour.

You may also disable automatic definition checking, though this is not recommended.

To check for new updates immediately, click the provided link in this section.

To view the update information from when SecurityGateway did a check, click the provided link for the log file at the bottom of the section.

Additional Comments

If you have ProtectionPlus for SecurityGateway installed, this will check for new updates for both the ClamAV engine and for the ProtectionPlus engine.
