How to upgrade SecurityGateway to a newer version Print

How do I upgrade to SecurityGateway when a new version is released?

Before upgrading to a newer version of SecurityGateway, make sure you have a current subscription. You can do that here:

http://www.altn.com/Purchase/Software/UpgradeProtection/

If you do not have your SecurityGateway license-key handy, log into the server using a global administrator account and click on Setup / Users in the lower-left corner, then Registration on the left.

To upgrade SecurityGateway:

  1. Backup the SecurityGateway database by going to Setup / Users in the lower-left corner, then Backup on the left, in case you need to downgrade to the previously installed version. Make sure to download a copy of the backup file to your local computer.
  2. Download latest SecurityGateway from Alt-N's download page (http://www.altn.com/Downloads/ExistingCustomers/).
  3. Install, and make sure to select the same location where SecuityGateway is already installed.
  4. After files are copied and the conversions have run (if necessary), SecurityGateway will be successfully upgraded with your old settings intact.

Additional Comments

Note that backup-files from different versions of SecurityGateway are not compatible with each other, so it is advised that you make a backup before and after upgrading.
