How do I restore a backup of the SecurityGateway database?
To restore SecurityGateway's database from a previously-saved backup:
- Log into the SecurityGateway website with a global administrator account
- From the Dashboard, click on Setup / Users
- Locate the Database Maintenance section
- Click on Restore
A list of all backups made with the current installation of SecurityGateway will be displayed, with the oldest backups down to the newest. Select the backup you wish to restore from, and click Restore on the right-most column to start the restoration process.
If you have backup files that were created before the current installation of SecurityGateway, you can use the Upload Backup File option to add the new file to the list so it can be selected and restored from. Click on the Browse button to navigate to where the backup file is stored on the server, and then click on Upload Backup File.
Note that the filenames of configuation settings backups start with 'Export', and full-database backups filenames start with 'Backup'.Additional Comments
By default, SecurityGateway saves all backup files to \Program Files\Alt-N Technologies\SecurityGateway\Backup. You may want to make a backup copy of those files in case of machine or drive failure.
Note that only backup files made by the SecurityGateway program can be uploaded and used to restore the settings; other third-party database backup program formats will not work.
Also note that backup files work only with the same version of SecurityGateway; if you upgrade to a new version, you will need to create a new set of backups.
