MDaemon 12.0.x : How to backup the Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES) database Print

This article explains how to back up the BES database in MDaemon.

MDaemon can backup the BES database automatically and manually.

To configure MDaemon to perform nightly automatic backups of the BES database:

1. Click the Setup menu
2. Click BlackBerry Device Management…
   
   
   
3. Click Backup/Restore
   
   
   
4. Type the number of nightly backups you would like MDaemon to store. (This value will limit the number of backup files (automatic/manual) that are stored in the \MDaemon\Backup\ directory. If the value is set to “0” then no nightly backups are scheduled, but you may still perform manual backups).
   
   
   
5. Click OK to close
   
   
   

To perform a manual back up of the BES database, open the MDaemon console:

1. Click the File menu
2. Click Backup BES database…
   
   
   

Another method to perform a manual back up of the BES database from the MDaemon console:

1. Click the Setup menu
2. Click BlackBerry Device Management…
   
   
   
3. Click Backup/Restore
   
   
   
4. Click Backup BES database files
   
   
   
5. Click Yes
   
   
   
6. Click OK to close
   
   
   

BES database backup status can be viewed from the log entry on the System tab of MDaemon’s main display as well as from the MDaemon System log file in the \MDaemon\Logs directory.

This feature is only available in MDaemon Pro.
