MDaemon 12.0.x - Force old messages to arrive to a BES device during activation after a device wipe Print

This article explains how you can enable email message pre-population for all BES enabled accounts without a device PIN change.


Warning: Registry changes could potentially cause system instability. Before proceeding, please ensure you have a backup of the Windows Registry and/or a full system backup.

To enable email message pre population for all 'BES enabled' accounts without a device PIN change, complete the following:


  1. On the MDaemon server, click the Windows Start Menu
  2. Click Run...
  3. Type 'regedit'
  4. Click OK
  5. Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
  6. Expand SOFTWARE
  7. Expand Research In Motion
  8. Expand BlackBerry Enterprise Server
  9. Right-click Agents
  10. Select New, then click DWORD Value
  11. Type 'ForceMsgPrepopOnActivation' and hit the enter key
  12. Double-click ForceMsgPrepopOnActivation
  13. In the Value data field, type '1', then click OK
  14. Right-click Agents
  15. Select New, then click DWORD Value
  16. Type 'ForceMsgPrepopDays' and hit the enter key
  17. Double-click ForceMsgPrepopDays
  18. In the Value data field, type '0000000e', then click OK
  19. Right-click Agents
  20. Select New, then click DWORD Value
  21. Type 'ForceMsgPrepopMessages' and hit the enter key
  22. Double-click ForceMsgPrepopMessages
  23. In the Value data field, type '000002ee', then click OK
  24. Click the File
  25. Click Exit


This will force email message pre population for all 'BES enabled' accounts without a PIN change depending on the settings you have configured here:


  1. Click the Setup menu
  2. Click BlackBerry Device Management…
  3. Click Options below BlackBerry BES
  4. Synchronization options:
    … send this many days worth of old messages to the BlackBerry
    … send this many old messages to the BlackBerry
