How to compact the Outlook Connector database file (561) Print

Starting with version 2.2.0 of Outlook Connector, a feature has been added which allows you to compact the database file used by Outlook Connector, the localcache.db. This reduces the size of the database file and can speed the performance of Outlook with Outlook Connector.

To compact the database file: 

Outlook 2007: 

1. Exit Outlook if the program is open
2. Click Start
3. Click Control Panel
4. Double click 'Mail' 
   
5. Click the 'Show Profiles' button 
   
6. Select your Outlook Connector profile 
   
7. Click Properties
8. Click the 'E-mail Accounts' button 
   
9. Highlight the Outlook Connector MAPI account on the Account Settings window
10. Click Change 
    
11. Click the Miscellaneous tab
12. Near the bottom of the window click the 'Compact' button 
    
13. Click Yes on the dialog stating 'This process could take several seconds to several minutes depending on the size of the database. Do you want to continue? 
    
14. When the process is through, you will be presented a 'Compact completed successfully' window
15. Click OK
16. Cancel, close or click OK on the remaining windows.

Outlook 2003: 

1. Exit Outlook if the program is open
2. Click Start
3. Click Control Panel
4. Double click 'Mail'
5. Click the 'Show Profiles' button
6. Select your Outlook Connector profile
7. Click Properties
8. Click the 'E-mail Accounts' button
9. On the E-mail Account window, click 'View or change existing mail accounts'
10. Click Next
11. Highlight the Outlook Connector account
12. Click the 'Change...' button
13. Click the Miscellaneous tab
14. Near the bottom of the window click the 'Compact' button
15. Click Yes on the dialog stating 'This process could take several seconds to several minutes depending on the size of the database. Do you want to continue?
16. When the process is through, you will be presented a 'Compact completed successfully' window
17. Click OK
18. Cancel, close or click OK on the remaining windows.
