Starting with version 2.2.0 of Outlook Connector, a feature has been added which allows you to compact the database file used by Outlook Connector, the localcache.db. This reduces the size of the database file and can speed the performance of Outlook with Outlook Connector.
To compact the database file:
Outlook 2007:
- Exit Outlook if the program is open
- Click Start
- Click Control Panel
- Double click 'Mail'
- Click the 'Show Profiles' button
- Select your Outlook Connector profile
- Click Properties
- Click the 'E-mail Accounts' button
- Highlight the Outlook Connector MAPI account on the Account Settings window
- Click Change
- Click the Miscellaneous tab
- Near the bottom of the window click the 'Compact' button
- Click Yes on the dialog stating 'This process could take several seconds to several minutes depending on the size of the database. Do you want to continue?
- When the process is through, you will be presented a 'Compact completed successfully' window
- Click OK
- Cancel, close or click OK on the remaining windows.
Outlook 2003:
- Exit Outlook if the program is open
- Click Start
- Click Control Panel
- Double click 'Mail'
- Click the 'Show Profiles' button
- Select your Outlook Connector profile
- Click Properties
- Click the 'E-mail Accounts' button
- On the E-mail Account window, click 'View or change existing mail accounts'
- Click Next
- Highlight the Outlook Connector account
- Click the 'Change...' button
- Click the Miscellaneous tab
- Near the bottom of the window click the 'Compact' button
- Click Yes on the dialog stating 'This process could take several seconds to several minutes depending on the size of the database. Do you want to continue?
- When the process is through, you will be presented a 'Compact completed successfully' window
- Click OK
- Cancel, close or click OK on the remaining windows.
