Overview

This guide explains how to connect calendars (CalDAV) and address books (CardDAV) to common clients (iOS, macOS, Thunderbird, Roundcube) using the configuration details provided by Webmail → Calendars and Contacts Configuration.

Important Notes

Important: Do not use your web browser to navigate to the URLs that Webmail’s Calendars and Contacts Configuration interface (Webmail > Calendars and Contacts Configuration) displays. They do not contain human-readable information.

Configuration information (what Webmail provides)

Webmail provides the server URLs and direct collection paths you can use in CalDAV/CardDAV clients. Typical items you will need:

  • Username — your full email address (e.g., user@example.com).
  • Password — your Webmail/email password.
  • Server/Port — e.g., https://example.com:2080 (use the exact server/port shown in your Webmail configuration).
  • Direct collection URLs — the full CalDAV/CardDAV collection paths (calendars and address books) shown in Webmail.

Platform setup (quick)

iOS

  1. Settings → Mail → Accounts → Add Account → Other → Add CalDAV / Add CardDAV.
  2. Enter Server, Username (email), Password, Description; Next → Save.
  3. If prompted about SSL/self-signed certs, follow the client prompts (accept only if you trust the cert).

macOS

  1. System Settings → Internet Accounts → Add Other Account → CalDAV / CardDAV.
  2. Choose Automatic (email+password), Manual (server with :2080), or Advanced (explicit path).

Linux (Thunderbird)

  1. Thunderbird → Calendar → New Calendar → On the Network → Next → CalDAV URL → enter provided URL and authenticate.

Roundcube Webmail

  1. Roundcube → Calendar → Calendars → Menu → Add Calendar; use the CalDAV URL, username, and password shown in Webmail configuration.

Other operating systems

Important:
We have only tested the steps in this document on Apple-distributed products and the Thunderbird® email application. These applications natively support CalDAV and CardDAV. If you use other calendars or contacts applications that support CalDAV and CardDAV, you may be able to access your calendars and contacts from those applications. Your application must support the CalDAV and CardDAV protocols.

Microsoft Outlook® users can use the third-party Outlook CalDAV Synchronizer plugin to access their calendars and contacts on the Windows® operating system.

On Android™ devices, we recommend using the third-party DAVx⁵ application to set up calendars and contacts. For more information, read our How to Synchronize Calendars and Contacts on Android Devices documentation.

Troubleshooting

  • Client cannot connect: verify server URL, username, and password exactly as shown in Webmail → Calendars and Contacts Configuration.
  • Changes not appearing: some clients cache; refresh the account or restart the client. Allow 5–15 minutes for propagation in many cases.
  • SSL issues: if your server uses a self-signed certificate, either install/trust that certificate on the device or use a certificate from a trusted CA.
