SecurityGateway: How to stop and start the SecurityGateway Service Print

Administrators may need to stop and start the SecurityGateway service to perform maintenance on the server or for various other reasons. In order to prevent database corruption, it is best to gracefully shut down the SecurityGateway Service.

 

From the Start Menu:

Stopping the service:

  1. Click Start
  2. Point to Programs (or All Programs)
  3. Point to SecurityGateway
  4. Click Stop SecurityGateway
  5. You will not receive a confirmation that the service has stopped.

Starting the service:

  1. Click Start
  2. Point to Programs (or All Programs)
  3. Point to SecurityGateway
  4. Click Start SecurityGateway
  5. You will not receive a confirmation that the service has started.

From a command line:

Stopping the service:

  1. Click Start
  2. Click Run
  3. Type cmd
  4. Press Enter (or click the OK button)
  5. At the command prompt, type this command: net stop securitygateway
  6. Press Enter
  7. You will see 'The SecurityGateway service is stopping...'
  8. When the service is successfully stopped, you will see 'The SecurityGateway service was stopped successfully.'
  9. To close the command prompt window follow these steps:
    1. Type exit
    2. Press Enter

Starting the service:

  1. Click Start
  2. Click Run
  3. Type cmd
  4. Press Enter (or click the OK button)
  5. At the command prompt, type this command: net start securitygateway
  6. Press Enter
  7. You will see 'The SecurityGateway service is starting...'
  8. When the service is successfully stopped, you will see 'The SecurityGateway service was started successfully.'
  9. To close the command prompt window follow these steps:
    1. Type exit
    2. Press Enter

From the Services applet in Administrative Tools:

Stopping the service:

  1. Click Start
  2. Point to Programs (or All Programs)
  3. Point to Administrative Tools
  4. Click Services
  5. Scroll down in the list and locate SecurityGateway
  6. Click on SecurityGateway to highlight it
  7. Click Stop at the upper left of the list of services
  8. A window will open showing the progress of the shutdown. When it closes, the service will be stopped.
  9. Click the X at the upper right corner of the Services window to close it.

Starting the service:

  1. Click Start
  2. Point to Programs (or All Programs)
  3. Point to Administrative Tools
  4. Click Services
  5. Scroll down in the list and locate SecurityGateway
  6. Click on SecurityGateway to highlight it
  7. Click Start at the upper left of the list of services
  8. A window will open showing the progress of the startup. When it closes, the service will be started.
  9. Click the X at the upper right corner of the Services window to close it.
